Below we have one application for each of the programs administered by SPUR. Applicants who are from the University of Oregon (OURS applicants) should use the separate application that will open March 1st, 2019.
For the 2019 cycle, we are participating in an REU pilot study that requires some applicants to register on the National Science Foundation website. If you plan to apply for the REU program run through SPUR, please go to the NSF REU website to register for a unique REU ID number. This ID will be recorded as a part of your application.
Rolling admission begins in late January.
Applications are now closed for the 2019 cycle. UO Students: Do not apply here.
We will begin making offers of acceptance in February, and we will continue to review applications until all slots are filled, usually by late-March. We take great care to match applicants to the most suitable faculty and mentors, so you may hear from us later than March. Selection is based not only on personal qualifications, but also depends on the suitability of an applicant's interests for participating laboratories, and the availability of positions in those laboratories. Please note that space is very limited.
Letters of Recommendation
We receive numerous letters asking what recommendation letters should include. Here is our Note to Referees.
If you have difficulty submitting this application online or need special accommodations, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (541) 346-5862. We recommend completing the SPUR application form in a separate word document, as answers cannot be saved in the online form as a draft. Due to the volume of applications we are unable to manually input individual applications.
